Red Alert – Train service on the Red Line will be replaced with buses this weekend between JFK-UMass and Broadway as signal and track repairs continue. Next weekend, June 21-22, buses are set to run between JFK-UMass and North Quincy, with no interruption to the Ashmont leg.
Saturday (14th) – Get your move on with the Mattapan Food and Fitness Coalition at their 7th annual Moving for Life fitness and health event. This year the group has teamed up with the Boston Nature Center, 500 Walk Hill St., which will host the 9 a.m.- 1 p.m. gathering. The day features a two-mile walk through the nature sanctuary, aerobics and healthy cooking classes. Check out more details at mattapanfoodandfitness.org
Four Corners will be the spot on Saturday from 12-4 p.m. as its second annual “We’ve Got FLAVA” day takes over Washington Street around Mothers Rest Park. Vendors will sell goods and food, plus they’ll have live music, spoken word, kid friendly activities, performances, the Four Corners Open Air Market and more. Also on Saturday, moms need to get those helmets for Boston Bikes’ first-ever Mom & Kid Ride through Franklin Park. The free 5-mile ride will be a “low-paced” affair, perfect for bikers of all levels and ages and will take place on paths and low-traffic streets. Check-in is at 11 a.m. at the Franklin Park Club House, with free face painting and bike decorating. The ride will run from noon-1 PM, ending with a celebratory picnic and free ice cream social hosted by J.P. Licks. The first 100 children to register will receive admission to the Franklin Park Zoo following the ride (free with every adult Zoo ticket purchased). The Mom & Kid Ride will take place rain or shine.
Monday (16th) – Mayor Martin J. Walsh and the Boston Parks and Recreation Department ends his Coffee Hour Series event at Martin Tot Lot, 95 Myrtlebank Ave., Dorchester, 9:30-10:30 a.m.
Tuesday (17th) – Join Uphams Corner Main Streets as they celebrate efforts to revitalize the business district with a party at the Strand Theatre, 543 Columbia Rd. 6:30-8:30 p.m. “Moving Forward Together” is billed as a night of music, entertainment, food and drink, and a live auction.
