The Civil War Circle at Forbes House Museum will hold a Movie Night featuring the historic epic film, Lincoln, on Tuesday, 5 August at 7pm at the East Congregational Church, 610 Adams Street in East Milton. This event is free and open to the public.
Lincoln is a 2012 American epic historical drama film directed by Steven Spielberg, starring Daniel Day-Lewis as United States President Abraham Lincoln and Sally Field as Mary Todd Lincoln. The screenplay by Tony Kushner was based in part on Doris Kearns Goodwin's biography Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln, and covers the final four months of Lincoln's life, focusing on the President's efforts in January 1865 to have the Thirteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution passed by the United States House of Representatives.
Founded in 2004, the Civil War Circle meets on a monthly basis, usually on Tuesday evenings at 7pm, at Forbes House Museum, 215 Adams St., Milton. Newcomers are welcome to the group, and attendees can research monthly topics to participate in informal round table discussions. The CWC chooses topics from both the Northern and Southern points-of-view.
The CWC is a member benefit at Forbes House Museum. Sign up for a Family level membership and receive free admission to CWC sessions. Otherwise, admission is $5 per person per round table session.
The Civil War Circle expresses great thanks to Joe Sloan of the East Congregational Church for providing the movie venue.
