Parents can register their children for the 2012 season of Cedar Grove Baseball beginning next Friday, March 2 at one of two local elementary schools. The baseball league — which plays on city fields at Dorchester Park and Ventura Park in Lower Mills— begins with T-Ball for boys and girls age 5 and extends up to a senior division, for those at least 13 years of age.
Sing-ups start on Friday, March 2 from 6-8 p.m. at St. Brendan School Hall, 29 Rita Rd. (use the St. Brendan Rd. entrance) and at Pope John Paul II Catholic Academy’s Neponset campus, 239 Neponset Ave. The same venues will be used on other dates, including Friday, March 9 from 6-9 p.m. (both schools); Saturday March 3 and 10, 10a.m.-noon at St. Brendan’s; and Sat., March 3 and 10 at the Neponset campus from 1-3 p.m. each day.
T-ball players must be 5 years-old as of April 30, 2012. Players in the Minor league must be 8 years-old (no exceptions) by 4/30/12; Players in the major (age 10 by 4/30) and senior leagues (age 13 by 4/30) must try-out. The fees are $40 for t-ball; minors or majors (one child) $100, two children (minors or majors) $125. Three or more children (minors or majors) $150. Senior League (each player) $125. Please bring an original birth certificate as proof of age for all T-Ball and Minor League players, even if your child played last year. It will be returned to you immediately.
