In its 15th annual
"Boston's Best" edition, the Improper Bostonian
named the Dorchester Reporter Boston's Best
Neighborhood Newspaper. This marks the second time
the Reporter has earned the honor, having been
similarly recognized in 2004, the last time
Improper made a selection in the "Neighborhood
Newspaper" category.
Reporter owner and
publisher Ed Forry said he was gratified that the
hard work of the newspaper's staff was highlighted
again by the magazine.
"In our business, you are
always only as good as your next edition. That
philosophy has served us well over our first
quarter-century and we continue to work hard to
find new voices that will help us tell Dorchester's
stories for years to come," said Forry, who
launched the Reporter as a monthly newspaper in
1983 with his wife, Mary Casey Forry. Mrs. Forry
died in 2004, but is still listed as the publisher
in each ed-ition of the newspaper.
"We are thankful to have
such a strong team of reporters, editors and
salespeople, who work diligently to tell the
stories of this neighborhood that might otherwise
go untold. I am grateful to Improper Bostonian for
recognizing our staff's collective
accomplishments."
The Dorchester Reporter
and its companion website, dotnews.com, are owned
and managed by Boston Neighborhood News, Inc. The
Dorchester-based company also publishes the
Mattapan Reporter, Boston Irish Reporter, and
Boston Haitian Reporter.
Other Dorchester
businesses recognized by Improper were C.F.
Donovan's honored again as Dorchester's best
neighborhood bar, and the Ashmont Grille, named
best spot for a guaranteed good meal in Dorchester.
