Older Adult Volunteers Needed to Work with Preschool Children

Jumpstart Community Corps is looking for older adult volunteers (the majority of our volunteers are 55 or older) to work in preschool classrooms in Mattapan to help prepare children for school success. Volunteer will work in a preschool classroom two afternoons a week, either at Ellison Parks EEC or the Mattapan Head Start, helping children build their language and literacy skills. Good Food Market at Gallivan

Every Wednesday, 4pm to 6pm, from July 13 through October 26 on the outdoor basketball court located on Standard Avenue in the Gallivan Housing Community. For $5, fill up a grocery bag with all the vegetables and fruits you want. Fresh, local produce is provided by Brookwood Farms, located in Milton, MA, in partnership with the Gallivan Task Force and the Mattapan Food and Fitness Coalition. The Neponset Health Center's food pantry is open every Tuesday from 9 am-11 am. New clients only need to bring with them a valid I.D. and proof of some sort of state assistance (i.e MassHealth, SDI, DTA, Housing, etc). Neponset Health Center teams up with Neighborhood Health Plan

Starting Friday July 10th Neponset Health Center will be hosting a health insurance table hosted by a Neighborhood Health Plan representative. Neighborhood Health Plan will be in the lobby of the Neponset Health Center every other Friday from 9am-2pm with information on the health insurance plans that are available to everyone. The Neighborhood Health Plan rep. will be able to answer any questions that you may have about their plans and will help find out which plan will work best for you.
