Bayside Expo Center sets stage for return

The new owners of Bayside Exposition Center have hired a Virginia-based firm to book and manage shows and other events at the largely dormant venue on the Columbia Point waterfront. The Ballantine Managament Group, owned by a man who once worked as Bayside’s executive director, has begun booking consumer shows — including September’s Boston Home Show.  Read more

Bayside Expo lawyer expects "positive resolution" despite foreclosure threat

The Bayside Expo Center on Columbia Point is being threatened with foreclosure and the property could be auctioned off next month, according to reports published today in Boston's daily papers. Odor still in the air for Bayside site

nother salvo in the battle over an odor control facility on Columbia Point took place earlier this month, in the form of a tersely worded letter from developer Corcoran Jennison Companies. The director of the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority said it's nothing new.

The fight centers on a proposed facility that would filter the air from an underground water storage tunnel that would store rainwater and raw sewage. In essence, Corcoran Jennison claims the current MWRA plan would stink, and the MWRA says it won't.  Read more

Bayside outlines plans at meeting

Corcoran Jennison Companies hosted the first public meeting for residents last week to discuss plans to redevelop nearly 30 acres of land on Columbia Point into a mixed-use retail and residential project that could represent a $1 billion investment.

The site is currently home to the Bayside Expo Center, a conference facility whose business has been impacted drastically since last summer, when a change in state law allowed the new Boston Convention and Exhibition Center in South Boston to host the regional trade shows that provided Bayside with its most lucrative clients.  Read more

Bayside execs envision massive transformation on Columbia Point

A new mix of residential, commercial and open space would replace the box-shaped confines of Bayside Expo Center under a conceptual plan discussed today by executives from Corcoran Jennison Companies, owners of the waterfront land in Columbia Point.

Corcoran Jennison Companies has unveiled a concept to completely redevelop 21.5 acres of property on Columbia Point as a mixed use residential and retail destination at a cost that could approach $1 billion.  Read more
