Mayoral debate pushed back a week

The WBZ-TV mayoral debate between Mayor Thomas Menino and his three challengers has been pushed back a week to Sept. 2, two campaigns said Wednesday. Same time: 7 p.m. And same place: at the station's Allston studios on Soldiers Field Road. There's also a 6:30 p.m. forum, sponsored by MassVOTE and a host of other organizations, scheduled for Sept. 3 at Reggie Lewis Center in Roxbury. (Menino has been non-committal on the MassVOTE forums, saying he has already committed to three debates and a WCVB forum.)

WBZ-TV mayoral debate postponed

The Wednesday night debate between Mayor Thomas Menino and his three challengers is postponed, officials with two campaigns confirmed. The early morning announcement of the death of U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy has led to the suspension of public mayoral campaign activities, including the WBZ-TV face-off that was to be moderated by political analyst Jon Keller.  Read more

Make of this what you will. According to a person familiar with the layout of the WBZ-TV debate, it will be set up like this: From left to right and facing the camera (and with political analyst/debate moderator Jon Keller in the middle), Flaherty and McCrea on one side and Menino and Yoon on the other.
