Teen shot to death

Boston Police report finding a male, 16, shot at Gallivan Boulevard and Patterson Street around 3:30 p.m. yesterday. He was taken to Boston Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Lawmakers push for overhaul at Morton-Gallivan intersection

The intersection at Gallivan Boulevard and Morton Street could undergo a study and an overhaul, with members of the State House delegation pushing for the area to get re-done.

"Car accidents happen there almost every day," said Danny Hardaway, president of the Morton Street Chamber of Commerce and owner of the Final Touch With Class boutique.

Pedestrians cross at their own peril, Hardaway said.

"The most dangerous intersection in that district, I would say," said state Rep. Linda Dorcena Forry, a sentiment echoed by state Sen. Jack Hart.  Read more

A pedestrian hit stirs fear of speeding at Gallivan Housing development

Members of the Gallivan Boulevard Tenants Task Force in are up in arms after a motorist hit a pedestrian at Morton and Woodmere streets on Saturday, Feb. 16. The incident, though unique in nature, reminds residents of a number of other pedestrian strikes and accidents and their long-ignored campaign to get speed bumps on the development's roads.  Read more

Budget Bill Includes $900K for Gallivan Overpass

The House and Senate have both approved a supplemental budget bill that includes $900,000 in state cash to build a pedestrian walkway over a particularly busy stretch of Gallivan Boulevard. The bill is now on the desk of Governor Mitt Romney, who has until this weekend to either sign the budget into law or veto the whole package, which includes a total of $722 million to fund projects across the Commonwealth.  Read more
