Yoon campaign shake-up

City Councillor Sam Yoon’s top aide in City Hall is moving over to the campaign. Mary Grissom, Yoon’s chief of staff, will be taking over as campaign manager, a campaign spokesman confirmed to the Reporter.  Read more

Flaherty bangs debate drum

Mayoral hopeful Michael Flaherty's campaign is pressing for more debates. The campaign had 150 volunteers out this weekend, passing out flyers that hit incumbent Mayor Thomas Menino on debates, or rather the current lack thereof.

Menino has agreed to three debates -- two before the September 22 preliminary election and another before the November final election -- but details are still getting hammered out.  Read more

Who's the fifth pope?

From the Dept. of Oops: In a release promoting a proposal on term limits for Boston mayors, the Yoon camp goofed on the number of popes and U.S. presidents since 1968.

Noting that there have been three mayors (Kevin White, Ray Flynn, and current incumbent Thomas Menino) since then, the campaign said there had been 10 U.S. presidents and five popes.  Read more

Term limits would be first up on mayoral agenda, Yoon says

The symbolism is hardly subtle: On the same day that Mayor Thomas Menino hits a milestone – 5,846 days in office – surpassing the amount of days former Mayor Kevin White served, City Councillor At-Large and mayoral candidate Sam Yoon is pushing a term limits proposal.

Yoon said as mayor he would propose limiting the time in office for mayors to the same as that for presidents – two terms, or eight years.  Read more

JP Gazette: No rules, few records for city-appointed citizens advisory committees

The Jamaica Plain Gazette shows everybody how it's done: Their investigation has found that citizens advisory committees (CAC), which review real estate developments, are formed by the mayor's office and the Boston Redevelopment Authority (BRA) with "no standard rules, structures or operating procedures."  Read more
