The candidates sat almost shoulder-to-shoulder on the stage inside Edward Brooke Charter School’s auditorium, five on either side of the moderator.
Even with no opening or closing statements allowed, candidates looked down at the table, out into the large crowd, or quietly joked with one another as they waited for their turn. One question took fifteen minutes to get through, as each candidate weighed in with their response to the various questions.

This just in from the Election Department, which is continuing to work on certifying nomination signatures:
-- Local community activist John Barros and District 5 Councillor Rob Consalvo joined the list of folks who have at least 3,000 signatures verified for the mayoral ballot. The other candidates who have already been verified include City Councillors At-Large Felix Arroyo and John Connolly, state Rep. Marty Walsh and Suffolk County District Attorney Dan Conley. Read more
As City Councillor Rob Consalvo’s mayoral campaign kick-off wound down, Angelo Scaccia was at the front table, greeting people as they exited, getting up and sitting down, shaking their hands, and slapping their backs while complaining of his own being in pain.
“Four herniated discs,” Scaccia roared at one point, before shuffling over to sit on the edge of the stage set up for the media. Read more
