The following remarks at the ‘Healing Our City’ interfaith service were delivered at the South End’s Cathedral of the Holy Cross. The remarks are in the order they were delivered: Mayor Thomas Menino, who rose from his wheelchair to deliver his speech, Gov. Deval Patrick and President Barack Obama. The president later met with Boston Athletic Association volunteers and then left to meet with patients at Massachusetts General Hospital. Read more
A city licensing official on Monday warned the Dublin House, 7 Stoughton St., that it faces a possible suspension of its license because of a stabbing last month - which follows a shooting outside the bar last year. Read more
The Boston Police Department reports officers found two men shot in a gray Toyota Corolla at Columbia Road and Hancock Street around 6:30 p.m., Saturday.
One man was pronounced dead at the scene, the other was rushed to Boston Medical Center in critical condition, police say.
Boston and MBTA Police are stepping up patrols this week and warning the public after a flurry of street robberies targeting women that may be the work of a single, armed bandit. The incidents have all targeted women who were walking home from Red Line stations, including JFK-UMass, Savin Hill, Shawmut and Ashmont.
“We’re concerned about it,” said Captain Richard Sexton, commander of the Area C-11 police district. “It seems like it’s one person right now. We’ve had a few others on the district recently, but there’s definitely a pattern going here along the Red Line.” Read more

Polls open across the city at 7 a.m. on Tuesday and close at 8 p.m., at which point results for Boston will start to trickle in on City Hall’s website (www.cityofboston.gov).

A man was fatally shot in the head and a woman wounded inside the Universal Barber Shop and Hair Salon, 436 Geneva Ave. around 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
Around 11:45 p.m., meanwhile, a person was shot in the back outside 44 Humphreys St. in Uphams Corner. Read more

The Uphams Corner Health Center Health Festival will be held at the Strand Theatre on Columbia Road in Dorchester on Saturday. A staple of the community, the festival this year celebrates 25 years of putting on the fair at no cost to community members.
The event will feature live music by Gerason Band, a popular community Cape Verde musical act, festivities like face-painting and clown performances, as well as health screenings and a flu clinic. Read more
