Man murdered on Irma Street
By
The Boston Police Department reports a man found with a gunshot wound around 7 p.m. on Sunday at 20 Irma St. was pronounced dead at Boston Medical Center not long after.
Police said he was 22 and black, but declined further identification.
The murder is the fourth in a year in an area stretching three blocks on either side of Blue Hill Avenue. Read more

The Neponset Health Center's food pantry is open every Tuesday from 9 am-11 am. New clients only need to bring with them a valid I.D. and proof of some sort of state assistance (i.e MassHealth, SDI, DTA, Housing, etc). Lawmakers ask state to withdraw 28x proposal

Local lawmakers are calling on state transportation officials to pull back on the proposal for an express busway along Blue Hill Ave. for which the state is seeking a $140 million federal stimulus grant.
The request from lawmakers comes after months of community meetings at which many residents and businesses of Dorchester, Mattapan, and Roxbury greeted with skepticism a proposed transit line called "Route 28X" that would run along dedicated bus lanes on portions of the corridor between Mattapan Square and Ruggles Station.
