Douglass to open second Peabody Sq. restaurant

Tavolo. It means "table" in Italian, and early next year it will also be the name of a new eatery in Peabody Square. The restaurant, tentatively scheduled for opening in Jan. 2008, will occupy a portion of the first floor of The Carruth Building, a mixed-use development now under construction next to the Ashmont MBTA Station.

True to its name, the cuisine at Tavolo will have an Italian flair with a focus on pizza and pasta dishes.  Read more

The six-story apartment complex taking shape above the Ashmont T station marked two more milestones last week when Ashmont Grille owner Chris Douglass inked a deal to open a pizza/pasta eatery on the ground floor of the new building and dignitaries signed the structure's final steel beam at a 'topping off' ceremony on Thursday afternoon.  Read more

MBTA to Lease Ashmont Station Parcel to Private Developer

The MBTA will lease a large portion of its land around Ashmont Station to a private developer, who plans to build mixed-income housing for families and graduate students, with some retail space along the street. The rights to lease the 30,000 square foot, triangular parcel of land along Dorchester Avenue was awarded on Tuesday (March 26) to Trinity Financial, a Boston-based development firm with strong roots in Dorchester.  Read more
