Tutor For Project D.E.E.P. This Year!

Project D.E.E.P. (Dorchester Educational Enrichment Program) is seeking a few good tutors from the local community.
The commitment is one ninety (90) minute time period per week to work with one child. This period can be anytime from 3:00 - 8:00pm on any day Monday through Thursday.
There are three locations in Dorchester, and we are seeking tutors for all of them. Read more

If you cannot attend, or if you decide to enroll after our event, please contact us as soon as possible so that we can do our best to enroll your child in our programs. Seats are competitive and highly sought after, but we will do everything we can to find a spot for any students who want to enroll. Read more
Neponset Health Center teams up with Neighborhood Health Plan

Starting Friday July 10th Neponset Health Center will be hosting a health insurance table hosted by a Neighborhood Health Plan representative. Neighborhood Health Plan will be in the lobby of the Neponset Health Center every other Friday from 9am-2pm with information on the health insurance plans that are available to everyone. The Neighborhood Health Plan rep. will be able to answer any questions that you may have about their plans and will help find out which plan will work best for you. They will also have FREE giveaways for people who come in for information. Read more

You have a choice! Open enrollment for health insurance through the State of Massachusetts is coming to an end this Thursday, June 25th. Make sure that you have taken advantage of this time and have made sure you will have the health insurance plan of your choice under Commonwealth Care Plans & Mass Health. If you are currently enrolled in a health insurance plan through the State of Massachusetts either it be Neighborhood Health Plan, Network Health or BMC Health Net you have the option to switch to another plan if you want to or you can stay with your current plan. Federated Dorchester Neighborhood Houses, Inc. (FDNH) raised over $200,000 at a dinner honoring Governor Deval Patrick on June 4th at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. Over 300 people enjoyed the 5th annual networking event which celebrated FDNH's on-going commitment to transforming the community of Dorchester through education. Read more
Health Insurance??? Who does not have it? Who needs it?
There are so many reasons why people do not have health insurance. It is not offered through my employer, it is so expensive, I don't know how to get it on my own... Are any of these really worth the penalty? It is now a law in Massachusetts for all residents to have health insurance. I am sure a lot of people got hit with the tax penalty in April if you did not have proof of health insurance for 2008. The fee that you may be forced to pay in April 2010 may be more than $1,000 depending on your situation. Why throw this money away? Read more

Murder case from '04 ends in mistrial... again

The trial of two men accused of killing a Dorchester woman in a horrific crime on Monsignor Lydon Way back in 2004 ended in a hung jury on Wednesday, marking the third time the case has stalled in a Boston courtroom. Read more
