The trial of two men accused of killing a Dorchester woman in a horrific crime on Monsignor Lydon Way back in 2004 ended in a hung jury on Wednesday, marking the third time the case has stalled in a Boston courtroom. Read more
Two men have been arrested in connection with a Wednesday morning bank robbery at the Tremont Credit Union office on Columbia Point. Kevin Clement, 23, and Derrick Rogers, 25, have both been charged with Armed Robbery (bank). Boston Police detectives from Area C-6, members FBI Bank Robbery Task Force and Bureau of Investigative Services made the arrests. Read more
Around 8:05 p.m. on Saturday, police found a man with a gunshot wound inside 8 Ogden St. Okwudill Onujiogwie, 26, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Residents of Nelson Street â€” a sidestreet off of Morton Street along the Dorchester and Mattapan border â€” are interviewed in this video about a shooting incident last Friday night that left them shaken, but unhurt. Bullets whizzed into two homes, including one where a dad was watching TV with his two young kids and their cousins. Read more
Boston Police recorded a total of four murders in two separate incidents Saturday and Sunday, including three in a single incident outside a house party on Meetinghouse Hill. Police reported finding two women and a man shot outside a party at 41 Mt. Ida Rd. around 4 on Sunday morning. All were rushed to Boston Medical Center, where all three were pronounced dead. That could be the lesson the owners of the Bayside Expo Center take to heart this week after the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority board of directors voted, 7-3, to sink underground a controversial odor control facility on Columbia Point. Read more
A trace amount of vapors from the dry cleaning chemical tetrachloroethylene, also known as perc, has been detected at the Mildred Avenue Middle School in Mattapan. The school was completed in 2003 on a handful of formerly industrial sites that were cleaned up and patched together by the city.
Boston Public Schools and the Department of Environmental Protection both agree that the amount detected in air quality tests is not enough to be threat to students, but plans are being made to address the problem before it gets any worse. Read more
Motor vehicles - more specifically the misuse of motor vehicles - is a valuable tool for police officers to enforce traffic laws, but more often than not it leads to the discovery of other more serious crimes. It amazes me to no end the utter stupidity some people possess once they get behind the wheel of a car, especially those that have bad licenses, no licenses, warrants, drugs or guns in their possession.
