REPORT: Heavy rains, flooding impedes traffic on Morrissey Blvd at Savin Hill

The Boston Police C-11 station is reporting that Morrissey Blvd is flooded from Freeport Street to UMass; Two south bound and one north bound lanes are closed.

Suspects sought for string of break-ins in Savin Hill/Columbia Road area

Boston Police report an outbreak of burglaries in the area since February, but that they are unsure if burglaries on Dorchester Avenue and Buttonwood, Moseley and Carson streets are related.  Read more

Former Savin Hill resident convicted of stabbing murder

A Suffolk Superior Court jury today convicted Steven Odegard of first-degree murder for the death of Daniel Yakovleff in Odegard's Tuttle Street apartment on Jan. 17, 2008, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office announced.  Read more

The Neponset Health Center's food pantry is open every Tuesday from 9 am-11 am. New clients only need to bring with them a valid I.D. and proof of some sort of state assistance (i.e MassHealth, SDI, DTA, Housing, etc). The Neponset Health Center Food Pantry is located in the health center on the first floor near the back parking lot. Bank seeks city help to sell off C.F. Donovan's

The Boston Licensing Board on Thursday will consider a request from Mt. Washington Bank to hold off revocation of C.F. Donovan's liquor license so it can try to sell it and recoup some of its losses.  Read more

City begins process to strip C.F. Donovan's liquor license

The Boston Licensing Board has started proceedings that could end with bar owner Arthur Donovan losing his valuable liquor license for his C. F. Donovan's Bar and restaurant on Savin Hill Ave.

Donovan is already close to losing another liquor license he's held for nearly three years for a Cleary Square, Hyde Park restaurant that has never opened. The city closed his popular Dorchester location in November for failing to make payments on $300,000 in city loans used to get the Hyde Park location open.  Read more

Four teenagers charged with armed holdup

Boston Police report officers on patrol around 4:30 this morning spotted four males beating up a fifth at Savin Hill Avenue and Tuttle Street.  Read more
