Neponset Health Center teams up with Neighborhood Health Plan

Starting Friday July 10th Neponset Health Center will be hosting a health insurance table hosted by a Neighborhood Health Plan representative. Neighborhood Health Plan will be in the lobby of the Neponset Health Center every other Friday from 9am-2pm with information on the health insurance plans that are available to everyone. The Neighborhood Health Plan rep. will be able to answer any questions that you may have about their plans and will help find out which plan will work best for you. You have a choice! Open enrollment for health insurance through the State of Massachusetts is coming to an end this Thursday, June 25th. Make sure that you have taken advantage of this time and have made sure you will have the health insurance plan of your choice under Commonwealth Care Plans & Mass Health. If you are currently enrolled in a health insurance plan through the State of Massachusetts either it be Neighborhood Health Plan, Network Health or BMC Health Net you have the option to switch to another plan if you want to or you can stay with your current plan. FDNH Raises $200K at Dinner Honoring Governor Deval Patrick

Health Insurance??? Who does not have it? Who needs it?
There are so many reasons why people do not have health insurance. It is not offered through my employer, it is so expensive, I don't know how to get it on my own... Are any of these really worth the penalty? It is now a law in Massachusetts for all residents to have health insurance. I am sure a lot of people got hit with the tax penalty in April if you did not have proof of health insurance for 2008. The fee that you may be forced to pay in April 2010 may be more than $1,000 depending on your situation. Why throw this money away? Read more
Zipcar expands in Savin Hill

Slowly but surely, the rent-by-the-hour car company Zipcar is creeping into Dorchester, mostly along the path of MBTA’s Red Line.
One new car was added to the Savin Hill T Station site, one of eight locations in Dorchester. The sites are clustered around the JFK/UMass, Savin Hill, and Ashmont stations. Read more

Neighbors put new shine on Savin Hill Park

Savin Hill Shines: More than 80 people helped clean Savin Hill Park on Saturday, April 25, 2009.Over 80 people showed up to work at the 25th annual Savin Hill Park Clean Up (now part of Boston SHINES), on a beautiful, sunny April 25. Over 300 bags of leaves and about a half ton of glass were removed from the park, while youngsters from the Boys and Girls Club of Dorchester and Cub Scouts from Pack 28 (Rice Post) carried out piles of debris.
