A message board run by the state's Highway Division warned of an impending "Wicked High Tide" that is likely to cause lane restrictions or outright closures on Morrissey Boulevard over the next few days.
The boulevard - which runs between Dorchester Bay and Savin Hill cove - is regularly flooded during peak tide periods, usually caused by the confluence of wind, high tide, and the phase of the moon. Read more

Polls opened at 7 a.m. across the city, with two races on the ballot in Dorchester's District 3: Two men are vying to succeed retiring City Councillor Maureen Feeney and seven-person field is fighting for the four City Council At-Large slots.
The two top finishers in the Sept. preliminary, Frank Baker of Savin Hill and John O’Toole of Cedar Grove, are facing off over the first open City Council seat in Dorchester in nearly 18 years.

CNN’s Anderson Cooper was at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Dorchester headquarters in Savin Hill on Monday to speak with club members as part of a special show that is expected to air on the news channel on Friday. The Boys and Girls Clubs of Dorchester are teaming with the Mark Wahlberg Youth Foundation and the Taco Bell Foundation on the creation of a "Graduate To Go Studio" which will house a new film and video studio at the Club. Above, club members David Barry, Aisling Kerr and Marissa Sneed are pictured with Cooper, alongside club director Mike Joyce and president Bob Scannell. Wahlberg, who was a member at the club during his youth and is now a board member, visited the Club on Tuesday as well. Mike Joyce and a group of club members will be traveling to New York this week to take part in the Anderson Cooper show.
A Dorchester woman and a Quincy man were arrested on prostitution charges early Monday morning after police spotted them engaged in risque behavior in a car parked outside 200 Savin Hill Ave.
The Boston Police Department says it has started patrolling the area around Dorchester Avenue and Freeport Street for prostitution and that the couple got snared by that. Read more

Boston Police are investigating an alleged armed robbery on Tuesday evening in which a male victim was held up at gunpoint near the corner of Mayfield Street and Dorchester Ave. The incident happened at about 7:50 p.m. The victim told police that two young men accosted him as he was walking on Mayfield Street in the direction of Pleasant Street. The victim lost his wallet, including $130 in cash. The suspects, described as black males in their 20's approximately 5'6"-5'8, fled towards Dorchester Avenue, according to the police report.
Fire tore through the second floor of a home 8 Romsey Street around noontime today. No one was injured in the blaze, which triggered a two-alarm response from the city's fire department. The blaze was largely confined to the attic and second-story of the single-family house, which is home to 10 people. Fire officials estimate that the fire caused $150,000 in damage.
