Three arrested after jumping from expressway bridge

Three juveniles were arrested by State Police on Tuesday after they allegedly jumped off an expressway bridge into the Neponset River during the afternoon commute.

Motorists traveling on I-93 -including a State Police captain - watched the dangerous stunt unfold just before 4 p.m. on the northbound side of the expressway, near Keystone Apartments. One caller thought they had just witnessed a suicide attempt.
The kids splashed down safely- some 40 feet below- into the Neponset. They were quickly arrested by a State Police trooper at the river's edge in Pope John Paul II Park. They are due in Dorchester Court on Wednesday morning to answer charges of disorderly conduct and trespassing.
"It's happened there before," says Trooper Brian Dunn, who patrols the Neponset area parks and said he was very familiar with the teens who were arrested. "Kids in this area are doing dangerous things like this on a daily basis. They could have caused an accident or, of course, broken their necks."
