Double shooting on Harvard Street leaves woman dead; two arrests made

The Boston Police Department reports two people were shot around 1:15 a.m. Saturday at 183 Harvard St.

Both victims, a 24-year-old woman and an 18-year-old man, were taken to Boston Medical Center. The woman died; the man was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say an officer who happened to be nearby at the time of the shootings heard gunfire and saw two men running away from the scene. In a statement, the department says, "As a result, the officer immediately called for back-up and began pursuing the suspects on foot. During the course of the foot pursuit, the officer lost sight of the suspects. However, a search of the area enabled responding officers to locate the suspects hiding in a backyard in the area of Gleason Street."

Police arrested Kadeem Foreman, 20, and Terrell Rainey, 20, and charged both with murder, unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition. Police say officers also recovered two guns.
