Intramural & All-Star Soccer Program
Week number two of the 4-team co-ed Intramural Soccer program was held with two games played this past Friday. In the opener Celtic F.C. needed two late goals to defeat F.C. Barcelona 4-2. Andelino Cardoso (3 goals) and Raul Cardoso (1 goal) led the Celtic F.C. attack while F.C. Barcelona was led by Octavius Nunes (1 goal) and Omar Darwish (1 goal). In the second game Inter Milan received their offense from De’Andre Dew-Hollis (3 goals), Luis Rodriguez (2 goals), Armani Monteiro (1 goal), Le-Zhan DosSantos (1 goal) and Edson Pina (1 goal) helping defeat Manchester United by a score of 8-1. Aldo Fernandes (1 goal) provided the offense for Manchester United. The Defensive Players of the Week were Armani Monteiro of Inter Milan and Carlos Robalo of F.C. Barcelona while the Offensive Players of the Week were Andrelino Cardoso of Celtic F.C. and Aldo Fernandes of Manchester United. Current standings has Inter Milan all alone in first place at 2-0 followed by Celtic F.C. and Manchester United tied at 1-1 and F.C. Barcelona at 0-2. Our All-Star team, made up of players from the Intramural program, have jumped out to a 2-0 record on the young season thanks to a 1-0 victory over the Salem, MA Boys and Girls Club this past week. The offense was provided by Walter Dew-Hollis (1 goal). The next game for our Stars, who are hoping to repeat as league champions for the fourth consecutive year, will be at home against the Salesian Club from East Boston. Art Program News
This past Thursday, Massachusetts Attorney General, Martha Coakley visited the Club to recognize those young artists who created art work that will be used in the Victim Compensation and Assistance Division calendar for her Office. Congratulations to the following Club members who were presented certificates of Recognition by the Attorney General: Melanie Almeida, Nashyia Borden, Erica Correia, Rachel Griffin, Abianah Howell, Sofia Henriquez, Ella Lescinskas, Tajah Mims, Kayla Salamon, Kevin Zarnoch, Shannon Zarnoch, Kenyatta Harris, Daejhele Rousseau, Shantel Oliveira, Kerri Doyle and Victorina Fonseca. Our second semester of Spring Fine Arts classes for ages 6 to 12 has begun (photography, painting, sculpture, girls/boys art & open art) as well as our evening classes for ages 10 & older (painting, sculpture, open art and teen arts). These classes will continue to meet weekly through the beginning of June and will be followed by an exhibit for family and friends. Later in May, look for the Photography Club to host an exhibit of their works on 5/27 with several pieces to be selected for entry into Boys and Girls Clubs of America’s Imagemaker Contest. Summer Program Registration
We are pleased to announce that registrations for the summer program for members ages 6 to 12 will be accepted beginning Monday, June 6th at 9 a.m. The program will remain a “drop-in” program, meaning members are free to leave the facility at any time during the program. However, each child taking part in the summer program (ages 8 to 12 only) will need to arrive at our facility no later than 9:30 a.m. each the day the program is in operation. Members ages 8 to 12 can attend from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. while our 6 & 7 year old members can choose from a 9 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. morning session or a 1 p.m. – 4:15 p.m. afternoon session. Please note that no registrations will be accepted before the June 6th date and the program is broken down into 2-3 week sessions To ensure all applicants have an opportunity to take part, you will be allowed to register for one session only, but will have the opportunity to be placed on a waiting list for the remaining session. For parents interested in our Denney Center Unit we would like to remind you that there will be a maximum of forty slots available for non-residents of the Harbor Point community. Registration for the Denney Center’s Summer program began on May 2nd and will continue until all spots have been filled. Please note that there is no registration fee to participate in the summer program provided you have an active membership.
