Man charged with ending driveway dispute by punching, shooting at neighbor

The Boston Police Department says an argument over a blocked driveway on Olney Street Saturday morning ended with one man punching his neighbor in the face and firing a gun at him before unblocking the driveway by jumping in the car and speeding away.

Charles Robinson, 32, was charged with assault by means of a dangerous weapon, armed assault with intent to murder, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, unlawful possession of a firearm and operating a motor vehicle after suspension, police say.

Police say the incident started shortly after 10 a.m. at 41 Olney St. when a neighbor complained to Robinson that his car was blocking the neighbor's driveway. The discussion turned heated. Robinson went into his house and came out with a gun, police say:

"According to the victim, the suspect approached him, punched him in the face, pointed the firearm in his direction and fired off a round which missed the victim. Officers were able to see and take possession of a spent round.

"At this point, the victim says he jumped into his motor vehicle and drove up to Bowdoin Street because, as he stated, 'There are cops up there lot.' "

He found an officer, a description of Robinson's gold Accord was broadcast and within short order, he was under arrest, police say.
