Teen charged with murder at Savin Hill T stop

The Boston Police Department report arresting a local teen on charges he shot another teen to death on the platform of the Savin Hill Red Line station this past Saturday.

Police say Nhu Nguyen, 19, fled to Portland, Maine, where he was arrested last night.

Nguyen is charged with firing a single fatal shot into Derek Matulina during a brawl in which Matulina was attacked by several other teens around 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Nguyen is expected to be arraigned today in Maine as a fugitive from justice, police say, adding an arraignment date in Boston has yet to be set.

The Columbia Savin Hill Civic Association is planning a meeting focused on the shooting on Tuesday, May 17 at 6:30 p.m. at the Cristo Rey School, located down the street from the MBTA station.

Organizers said they expect local lawmakers and representatives from Boston Police Department, Transit Police, Mayor Thomas Menino's Office of Neighborhood Services, and Inspectional Services.
