Man gets life for killing elderly neighbor

A Dorchester man will go to prison for life for murdering a 72 year-old woman in her Codman Hill Avenue apartment in 2012. Tu Nguyen, 31, admitted that he stabbed his neighbor Mary Miller on Feb. 21, 2012. Nguyen was arrested in his apartment upstairs later that morning after video footage showed him breaking into her unit.

He was initially committed to Bridgewater State Hospital but was later found competent to assist in his own defense. Nguyen pled guilty to second-degree murder. Suffolk Superior Court Judge Jeffrey Locke sentenced him to the mandatory term of life in prison, plus a concurrent 10-year term for burglary.
