MetroLacrosse season closer honors fallen player

MetroLacrosse honored the legacy of Adrianna Duffy at their season closing event at Franklin Field last month.

Duffy was a longtime player in the league who passed away in 2009. Established in 2000 for city youth by founder Zachary Lehman, the program today has 750 participants with a 10-week spring season, 7-week fall season and a 7-week indoor winter season.

“MetroLacrosse is a year-round youth-based sports organization whose mission is to foster life enrichment through the team sport of lacrosse. Boys and girls grades 3 through 12 who live within the city limits of Boston or Chelsea are eligible to participate in our programming,” said Bianca Sullivan, program manager for MetroLacrosse.

“MetroLacrosse was established in order to diminish the disparity between sports programs available to Boston urban youth as compared to their suburban counterparts,” said Sullivan. “All funds raised from the season closer will be donated to Adri’s Legacy Foundation Scholarship, which supports young people who are determined to obtain a better education and yet face financial obstacles in their pursuit of higher learning.”
