Fundraiser in support of local restaurant, health care workers hits goal

A “Pay it Forward” lunch project aimed at supporting both Fields Corner eatery 50 Kitchen and staff at Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program’s COVID-19 compound has hit its first month goal for April, according to co-organizer Ann Walsh. The crowdsourced fundraiser hit its $2000 goal this week and will fund Chef Anthony Caldwell to provide 25 lunches from his menu once a week for four weeks to BHCHP workers providing outreach and front-line medical services to some of Boston’s most vulnerable residents.

Walsh says those who didn’t get a chance to contribute can still donate electronically via Venmo (@Nancy-Englander), Apple Pay (via Messages, 617.939.3401), or Cash App ($NancyEnglander). A second Pay it Forward project may be in the works soon.

“For those who didn't get to contribute, you can still help!,” wrote Walsh in an email. “This was not very difficult to set up, so consider contacting a favorite local restaurant and asking if they'd be interested in a similar project. If yes, find a local "essential" worker in your community and ask if they'd like free lunch once/week and you're off to the races.”
