Morrissey Boulevard lane closures expected through next week

Officials from the Department of Conservation & Recreation (DCR) announced Wednesday that lane and/or road closures are anticipated to go into effect along Morrissey Boulevard starting Thurs., October 15 though Wed., October 21.

The agency expects roadway flooding issues caused by incoming high tides, which could prompt closures along the Boulevard (inbound and outbound) from Freeport Street to UMass Boston. Traffic patterns will be clearly marked and DCR operations staff will be on site, the agency said.

A state-led effort to redesign the critical coastal roadway, called the Morrissey Project, has been publicly stuck in neutral since the most recent community meetings and comment period on the topic ended in 2017.
