It was a day filled with “Yee haws,” “Howdys,” and line-dancing into the sunset at Rev. Loesch-Wainwright Park in Dorchester on Sunday afternoon (Aug. 3) with the 3rd Annual Ice Cream Social Rodeo event.

The country-and-western theme was omnipresent in the park, with cattle-range attire, country music, and bull riding.

Dorchester’s Myesha Slaughter, who coordinates the annual ice cream social, said it was “a rootin’-tootin’ good time” and the several hundred in attendance under sunny skies responded wholeheartedly at the event by wearing cowboy hats and chaps and trying to stay on the mechanical bull.

The line for the bull ride stretched throughout the park, where several well-known restaurants like Estella’s sold food and drinks and vendors like Merry Go Rounds sold their wares along the walkways.
The Dorchester Reporter was a media sponsor of the event.

A really, really tall cowboy got a careful examination from one little girl during the 3rd annual Ice Cream Social Rodeo event at Rev. Loesch Wainwright Park in Dorchester on Sunday afternoon. Several hundred folks decked out in cowboy boots and Stetson hats turned out and line-danced into the sunset.
