A developer this week filed plans for a six-story, 24-unit apartment on Hancock Street, across from the Dot Block project.
In a filing with the Boston Planning Department, Jennifer Lam says she would replace a vacant lot and a parking lot at 265 Hancock St. with a building that would also have ground-floor retail space and room to store 24 bicycles, but no parking spaces:
“The project provides no on-site vehicle parking to maximize residential capacity and prioritize the pedestrian focused ground level functions. It is situated in a highly transit-accessible location, including proximity to the MBTA Red Line at Savin Hill Station, several bus routes, and a nearby Bluebikes station.”
The site is a half mile from the Savin Hill station, which the filing says is an 11-minute walk, or a 3-minute bike ride.
The apartments would be split among studios and one- and two-bedroom units. The filing does not specify the number of affordable units, but under city requirements of 17%, at least four would have to be rented to people meeting certain income restrictions.
Lam also owns a smaller apartment building at 271 Hancock.
