20th Anniversary Bobby Mendes Peace Legacy Matthew Courage Awards Dinner

Saturday, April 27, 2019

The 20th Anniversary Bobby Mendes Peace Legacy celebrates 20 years since Isaura Mendes founded the organization to support families impacted by violence, encourage children and young people to pursue education, and bring peace to city neighborhoods. Seven "Matthew Courage Award" scholarships will be extended to graduating high school seniors to help them pursue further education or achieve other life goals.
The seven scholarships reflect the Seven Principles of Peace that guide Isaura's work: Unity, Justice, Forgiveness, Courage, Hope, Faith and Love.

The Bobby Mendes Peace Legacy is an ongoing tribute to Isaura's sons Bobby and Matthew who were murdered near their home in Dorchester and its message is clear: Stop the Violence, Reach for Peace, and Learn to Forgive. Isaura hopes the anniversary celebration and the seven scholarships will carry that message forward.

John Barros, Boston's Chief of Economic Development, is keynote speaker and State Rep. Liz Miranda will emcee the grand event! Music by Dorchester resident and Cape Verdean recording artist Bino Barros. Gourmet dinner catered by Restaurante Cesaria. Don't miss it ! Tickets: $50.
