Resident, firefighter injured in fire on Fairlawn Avenue in Mattapan [1]

The Boston Fire Department reports firefighters responded to 20 Fairlawn Ave. for a fire on the second floor around 7:10 p.m.

One resident was rescued from the fire, which was contained to a single apartment, the department says, adding that resident and a firefighter were taken to a local hospital for observation.

A total of four people were displaced by the fire, which did an estimated $100,000 in damage, the department says. The cause is under investigation.
