About the Dorchester Reporter [1]
The Dorchester Reporter, founded in 1983, is a community newspaper which is published every Thursday. It is circulated to subscribers and sold at newsstands across the neighborhood. DotNews.com is the online home of the Dorchester Reporter.
The newspaper and website are owned and operated by Boston Neighborhood News, Inc., a Dorchester-based company. Husband-and-wife team Ed and Mary Forry launched the Reporter to provide their hometown with timely and insightful news, opinion and information about Boston's largest neighborhood.
NENPA memberThe Reporter has won a number of awards for excellence in journalism, including from the New England Newspaper and Press Association (NENPA) and UMass Boston's Center for Media and Society, and has twice been named Best Neighborhood Newspaper by the Improper Bostonian. In 2013, the Reporter won first place in the NENPA's Better Newspaper competition for Spot News [2] coverage by a weekly newspaper. The paper has won raves from Greater Boston's Beat the Press [3] for its coverage of city politics.
The newspaper is affiliated with three other titles owned by Boston Neighborhood News, Inc.: the Mattapan Reporter [4], Boston Irish Reporter [5] and Boston Haitian Reporter [6].
