Roslindale murder victim identified as Dorchester man

The Boston Police Department today identified the man shot to death in the back of a car in Roslindale last week as Jerome Lassiter, 26, of Dorchester.

Also known as "Butta," Lassiter leaves two sons, one just seven months old.

Following the discovery of Lassiter's bullet riddled body Friday morning on Rowe Street, police had theorized his death was drug related.

Court records show that Lassiter was convicted in Roxbury District Court in 2002 on a charge of possession with intent to distribute a class B substance - when he was just 18. In 2005, he pleaded guilty to federal charges of conspiracy to distribute cocaine.

At the time of his death, Lassiter was working at Prime Honda in West Roxbury, according to his Facebook page, which says his funeral service will be Friday, Dec. 10, 10 a.m. to noon at Morning Star Baptist Church, 1257 Blue Hill Ave. in Mattapan.
