Bloodshot eyes help police ID two teen armed-robbery suspects

The Boston Police Department reports arresting two teens on charges they stole some candy at knifepoint from the Centre Market, 1660 Dorchester Ave., Friday evening.

Police say they were able to ID one of the suspects because of the startling bloodshot eyes the store clerk noticed: "While talking to the smaller of the two suspects, officers noted that the suspect had what looked to be noticeably bloodshot eyes."

Police say George Nwachukwu, 17, and the bloodshot-eyed 14-year-old, not named because of his age, entered the Centre Market, 1660 Dorchester Ave., around 7:30 p.m.:

"According to the victim, the suspects entered the store, grabbed some candy and then approached the counter. Upon reaching the counter, one of the suspects pulled out a knife and asked the clerk, 'Do we have a problem?' The victim says both suspects then speedily exited the store without paying for the stolen items and were last seen running away from the store on foot."

Police say the younger kid, with eyes so red the clerk thought he might be wearing red contact lenses, was the one wielding the knife.
