Fine Arts Program

The Arts program has concluded the Spring Registration and will begin a 6-week series of classes this week. On Monday afternoons at 3:30 and 4:30 p.m. there will be Beginner Photography classes (pre-registration required). This will be followed by a Teen Arts Class at 6:30 p.m. On Tuesdays we will offer Beginner Painting Classes at 3:30 and 4:30 p.m. Both of these classes are drop-in. We will also offer a Painting Class for more experienced artists at 6:30 p.m. (pre-registration required). On Wednesdays we will offer drop-in Sculpture Classes at 3:30 and 4:30 p.m. followed by a Sculpture Workshop for our more experienced artists at 6:30 p.m. (Pre-registration required). On Thursdays look for an Open Art Class at 3:30, Girls Art at 4:00 and a Boys Art Class at 6:00. All three of these classes are drop-in. Finally, on Fridays we will offer Drop-in Art at 3:30 and 4:30 p.m., using a variety of mediums to expose participants to all facets of Fine Arts. This will be followed by a Teen Arts Class starting at 6:30 which will also be drop-in. In addition to the classes mentioned above we will be hosting a Photography Show on 4/1 filled with works created by participants in our Winter classes. This current set of classes will run through to the April School Vacation Week. During the vacation week we will host a Puppetmaking Workshop then begin a second 6-week session of Spring classes on 4/25. All-Star Basketball Program

Our four All-Star Basketball teams competing in the N.E.N.E.A.P.C. Basketball league are beginning to wind down regular season. Our Boys 12 & under team stands at 5-4 with an outside shot at getting the fourth and final play-off spot. In their most recent game they lost a close one to the Waltham Boys and Girls Club 69-60. Leading the team were Walter Dew-Hollis (27), Saide Smith (14), Eric Correia (11), De’Andre Dew-Hollis (5), Joshua Herron (2), Brendan White (1), Darius Hinds, Mohammed Mansalay, Pedro Lopes, Jamil Boykins and Le-Zhan DosSantos. Our Girls 14 & under All-Stars stand at 4-3 after losing a nail-biter to the West End House Boys and Girls Club 28-27. Leading the way for our Stars were Destinee Morris (24), D’Mitra Weathers (2), Jasmine Castro (2), Dericka Smith (1), Shannon Zarnoch, Aicha Tavares and Alexis Capers. Our Boys 15 & under team stands at 3-5 after losing their most recent game 43-29 to the Salem, MA Boys and Girls Club. The home team was led by Maxwell Spinola (12), Danielson Correia (9), Christino DaSilva (7), Marquice Rivera (1), Joaquim Pires, Mateo Calloway and Jeffrey Herron. Lastly, our Boys 18 & under team stands at 3-5 following a 57-49 loss to the Salem, MA Boys and Girls Club. Leading the squad were Jamiah Drigo (17), Bernard Barbosa (15), Michael Jackson (6), Johnathon Lopes (4), Alex DePina (3), Manny Spinola (2), Kenny Ribeiro (2), Marcelino DaVeiga, Joey Brandao, Eduardo DeLeon, Rafael Garcia and Evandro Teixeira. Currently, the Athletic program is filling any remaining spots for the 10-team Intermediate/Senior Basketball League (ages 13-18) and Co-ed Intramural Indoor Soccer which will also include a Clinic (ages 6 & 7) and All-Star component. Music Clubhouse Workshop

The Music Clubhouse program will be hosting a “Backbone of the Band: The Rhythm Section” workshop on 3/22 with Producer, Swiss Chris and Tom Hamilton, Bass Player from Aerosmith. The workshop will include youth from all the Music Clubhouse locations in the Greater Boston area. At 5 p.m. Tom Hamilton will give a workshop on playing the Bass Guitar followed by a Lite Stix Show by Swiss Chris at 5:45. The two artists will then team up to do a joint workshop at 6:30 p.m. This will be followed by a meet and greet with refreshments. Club members ages 10 & older are invited to attend. The Music Clubhouse program, which is supported by the Music & Youth Initiative and Berklee College, offers music instruction to members ages 10 and up. The program also offers drop-in sessions, Rock Band, a practice studio, a recording studio and more. Please note that the next Open Mic Night will take place on 3/18 while the next round for the Clubhouse Idol program will be held on 3/25.
