Safe Summer Streets Basketball League Championships

The 16-team Safe Summer Streets Basketball League concluded play in late August with the championship games for all three divisions of play. In the opening game for the 4-team Girls division the Lady Cavs defeated the Lady Tigers to advance to the championship game. In the second game The Lady Huskies, behind Kayla O’Brien (15) defeated the Lady Zags 49-45. Brianna Spears (21) led the Lady Zags offense. In the championship game the Lady Cavs opened up a big lead and withstood a late rally from the Lady Huskies to capture the 2012 title, 57-43. The tandem of Destinee Morris (18) and Fatima St. Hilaire (18) led the Lady Cavs while the Lady Huskies were led by Cadejia Matthews (14). In the 4-team Intermediate Boys division the first of two semi-final games saw the Front Runners hold off Jr. Dynasty, 66-55. Luke Dagley (19) led the Front Runners while Jr. Dynasty was led by the duo of Danny Lopes (13) and Armani Correia (13). In the second semi-final game it was Looney Tunes defeating Little C-Town by a score of 43-28. Kevin Mirville (6) and Eric Correia (6) led Looney Tunes while Saide Smith (13) led the Little C-Town attack. In the championship game the Front Runners held a one-point lead at the half before opening things up in the second half on their way to a 72-53 victory. Jerry Lopes (30) led the Front Runners while Looney Tunes was led by the duo of Kevin Mirville (13) and Ralph Jean-Baptiste (12). In the eight-team Senior Boys division the quarter-final opener saw Run & Gun squeak by the Tsunami 76-74. The duo of Steven Karlberg (21) and Tyrell Pugh (20) led Run & Gun while the Tsunami was led by Ryan Roach (17) and David Harrison (17). In the second game the Bullets opened up a half-time lead which they maintained through the second half for a 68-58 victory over A.D.S.L. Jared Coombs (17) and Maxwell Spinola (17) led a balanced Bullets attack while Zack Bailey (22) paced the A.D.S.L. attack. In the third game the Horsemen overcame a half-time deficit to defeat the Cape Ryders, 71-54. The Horsemen were led by Tyrik Jackson (26) while the Cape Ryders were led by Kaylab Silva (19) and Marcus Campbell (19). In the final game to determine the semi-final match-ups it was Showtime taking out the Heat by a score of 75-73. Christopher Shelton (23) and Austin Joseph (21) led the offense for Showtime while the Heat were led by Jonge DaSilva (27), Evandro Teixeira (18) and Philip Lodge (15). In the first of two semi-final games the Bullets opened up a half-time lead and never looked back on their way to a 77-55 victory over Showtime. It was Jared Coombs (17) and Andre Conway (14) leading the way for the Bullets while Showtime was led by Christopher Shelton (25). In the second game the Horsemen used the tandem of Eduardo DeLeon (33) and Tyrik Jackson (21) to capture a 72-70 win over Run & Gun. Tyrell Pugh (33) and Bernard Barbosa (18) led the Run & Gun attack. In the championship game the Bullets opened an early lead but could not easily shake the Horsemen who would claw back into the game several times. However, the Bullets balanced attack would lead them to a 69-64 victory. The Bullets were led by Emoni Vicente (17), Maxwell Spinola (17) and Rayshaw Matthews (15) while Tyrick Jackson (24) and Eduardo DeLeon (22) paced the Horsemen attack. “Learn To” Programming for Tots Registration

The Club is excited to announce that we will begin our second year of “Learn To” programming for 3-5 year olds on weekday afternoons and Saturday mornings. There will be programming in many of our core program areas including Athletics (Learn to Play Soccer and Learn to Play Sports), Aquatics (Learn to Swim, Family Swim), Fine Arts (Art for Me), Music (Music for Me), Education (Science for Me, Stories for Me), and Social Recreation/Movement (Gym for Me). Registration for these classes is currently open and there will be a $35 fee for each 7-week session of classes with the first session scheduled to begin in mid-September. Prior to registering you will need to fill out a membership application for each child.
