St. Mark’s Area Main Street (SMAMS) presents Oscars on the Avenue, a community celebration of the Academy Awards, on Sun., Feb. 24, 8 – 12 p.m., at Tavolo Ristorante, 1918 Dorchester Ave. in the Carruth Building at Ashmont Station. The evening will feature Tavolo’s hors d’oeuvres, the Academy Awards on the TV screens, an auction, a local awards ceremony, and more. 

SMAMS has been working since 2000 to revitalize the Dorchester Avenue business district (from Ashmont Station area to Melville Avenue), with projects including the reconstruction of Ashmont Station; development of the Carruth Building; re-design of Peabody Square; storefront renovations; business recruitment; Ashmont/Peabody Square Farmers’ Market; and the Business Task Force, a safety and networking forum for local merchants. Proceeds will help SMAMS to continue this work.

Tickets are $75 in advance (until 5 p.m. Feb 22), and $90 at the door.
