Menino's funeral procession to pass through Dorchester, Mattapan

At 10:45 a.m. this morning, church bells all over Boston will toll for Mayor Menino. Jeff Gonyeau, shown above in the bell tower, will chime the bells at All Saints Church in Dorchester as a final salute to the mayor.

Former Mayor Tom Menino will take his “Final Ride Home” through the streets of Boston today, passing by a number of significant locations before arriving at Hyde Park’s Most Precious Blood Parish at noon.

Bells in the city’s churches will toll 71 times beginning at 10:45 a.m.— one for each year of Menino’s life. It will also mark the funeral procession’s exit from Faneuil Hall.

Mayor Menino's funeral procession routeMayor Menino's funeral procession routeThe procession will pass Faneuil Hall, Boston City Hall, Parkman House, Boston University/Kenmore Square, Fenway Park, Dudley Square, Grove Hall, Franklin Park, Bowdoin Geneva, Mattapan Library, Roslindale Square, and finish at Most Precious Blood for a private funeral service.

Supporters are asked to line the procession route. Beginning at 10:30 a.m., “Thank You Mayor Menino” signs will be distributed at locations throughout the parade route, including:
Grove Hall Branch Library (41 Geneva Avenue)
Four Corners Main Streets (157 Washington Street)
Holland Community Center (85 Olney Street)
Bowdoin Health Center (230 Bowdoin Street)
St. Peter’s Center (278 Bowdoin Street)
Mattapan Branch Library (1350 Blue Hill Avenue)

Following the mass, Menino will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at Fairview Cemetery.
