Friday (13th) – Fiddlehead Theatre Company’s production of The Wiz opens at the Strand Theatre, 543 Columbia Rd., Dorchester. Ease on down the road with the beloved rock musical directed and costumed by Fiddlehead’s Associate Producing Artistic Director Stacey Stephens through Feb. 22. “The Wiz” is a modern re-telling of “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” by L. Frank Baum that sets Dorothy’s adventures in the Land of Oz to music in a lively mixture of rock, gospel, and soul. Sunday, March (1st)
– Day of Irish Music and Dance to Honor Fallen Firefighters. Local Irish musicians and step dancers will perform at the Brighton Elks Lodge to raise funds for the Last Call Foundation. Called “A Ceilidh for Mike Kennedy,” this family-friendly event kicks off at 12 noon.
