Thursday (22nd) – Senator Linda Dorcena Forry hosts a special meeting with United States Custom & Immigration Services (USCIS) and the Mayor’s Office of New Bostonians from 6- 8 p.m. at St. Angela’s Parish Hall, 1554 Blue Hill Ave., Mattapan. Topics include federal programs such as Haitian Family Reunification Parole Program (HFRPP), Deferred Action for Parental Accountability (DAPA) and Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and their impact on the Haitian community. Senator Forry encourages everyone who may have friends or family affected by these programs to attend. Saturday (24th)
– The Mattapan Patriots Annual Banquet will be held from 3 - 6 p.m. at the Mattahunt Community Center, 100 Hebron St., Mattapan. The banquet closes out the season. Dinner is served, trophies are handed out, and its an early evening of fun for our Mattapan Patriots family. The price for adults (parents, board members, other guests) is $10, payable at the door. All coaches, football players and cheerleaders attend at no cost.

• Senator Linda Dorcena Forry and the Boston Building Trades Council and the New England Regional Council of Carpenters host first in a series of open house apprentice fairs for individuals interested in pursuing a career in the trades. – Adams Street Branch of the BPL hosts event, “Living Solo: A Practical Guide to Life on Your Own” with author Dr. Nancy Goldner. 6:30 p.m., 690 Adams St., Dorchester.

Wednesday (28th)
– Public forum, “Black Lives Matter: Now What?” hosted by New England Blacks in Philanthropy (NEBIP) from 6-8 p.m.* at the Freedom House, 5 Crawford St. in Dorchester. The panel, led by Harvard Law Professor Charles Ogletree, will provide a deeper understanding of the current civil rights and Black Lives Matter movements and what needs to change to reflect that Black Lives do Indeed Matter.
