East Boston Savings moving ahead with Morrissey branch

East Boston Savings Bank this week confirmed that it plans to open a new branch office on Morrissey Boulevard later this year. The bank currently operates two branches in Dorchester, one in Codman Square and the other on Gallivan Boulevard. The new Dorchester location will be in the retail center, The Marketplace on Morrissey at 960 Morrissey Blvd. The plan was approved by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.

“We look forward to building and expanding our existing relationships and introducing our community banking culture to others in the Dorchester area,” said Richard J. Gavegnano, the bank’s Chairman, CEO and President. “This highly traveled route gives us great exposure and as part of the Marketplace accommodates plenty of free parking for our customers. Also as an end tenant, we are able to operate a drive-up at this location.”

The bank will also open a new branch in Brookline at 1050 Beacon Street, in a building which is on the National Register of Historical Buildings.
