Juvenile arrested on second gun possession charge

Boston Police arrested a 17 year-old teenager on Monday afternoon for carrying a loaded handgun. The teen was arrested in the vicinity of Rozella and Adams streets after an officer with the Youth Violence Task Force spotted him walking and asked why he was not in school.

According to the police account, the teen told officers he was on his way home from court where he “had just beaten a firearm case.” When police tried to frisk the teen, he struggled and police recovered a loaded Taurus PT-22 from the suspect’s waistband.

He now faces new charges for illegal gun and ammunition possession— in addition to earlier charges for allegedly carrying a 9mm handgun last January.

In fact, Suffolk County prosecutors say that the unnamed juveline did not beat that rap— he’s due back on court later this month for the earlier possession charge.
