New Head of School at Elizabeth Seton Academy

Michael Bonina of Dorchester has been appointed to the newly created position of Head of School at Elizabeth Seton Academy. Among Bonina’s first tasks will be the development of a strategic plan to grow the Lower Mills school. Students, parents, alumnae, administrators, trustees and other stakeholders will soon be surveyed for their input and ideas.

Bonina comes to ESA from Boston College High School, where for the last 11 years he has served in a number of managerial roles and was a teacher in the Religious Education Department.

“Who we are is an integral part of where we are going,” Bonina said in a statement. “We need to hear the voices of everyone in our community, everyone who has helped keep this vision of excellent and affordable single-gender education alive. We pride ourselves on being a small, nurturing community, and in our community, everyone’s voice has to be heard in order to move our school into the future.”

Bonina received his BA and MA degrees in Theology, and a graduate CAES degree with licensure in Catholic School Leadership, all from Boston College.

Bonina lives in Lower Mills with his wife, Kaileen, a Spanish teacher at BC High, and two daughters, Lily 2, and Rose, two months.

Elizabeth Seton Academy, the only all-girls Catholic high school in Boston, is an independent, urban, college-preparatory school that provides a nurturing community which embraces religious, cultural, ethnic and racial diversity for learners from 17 communities in the greater Boston area.
