Two nine-year old boys from Dorchester made a splash at the New England Silver Mittens boxing tournament in Billerica earlier this month. Finn Meaney (left) and Stephen O’Malley (right) each won a unanimous decision in their respective weight divisions against tough opponents. The two boys got their start in the sport through a boxing program at the John P. McKeon Post and continue to train together at the Dorchester Boxing Club in Fields Corner. Both boys also play Dorchester Youth Hockey and Cedar Grove Baseball. Finn attends St. John Paul II Catholic Academy while Stephen is a student at the Henderson School. -Eric Meaney photo
