Expanded hours laid out for city community centers

The city’s community centers will open earlier and close later starting this week. Mayor Walsh announced the operational changes on Friday. All free-standing centers will be open Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m.-9 p.m. On Saturdays, they will operate 9 a.m.- 5p.m. Boston Centers for Youth & Families (BCYF) centers in school buildings— including the Cleveland, Leahy-Holloran, Holland and Mattahunt will operate from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Friday. The city agency operates 36 facilities, including 20 free standing community centers and pool buildings and 16 based in school buildings.
