‘Friendship Social’ for disabled set for Sunday at Florian Hall

“Inclusion Brings Joy” is the motto of Dennis Walsh’s annual fundraiser for children, teens, and adults with special needs and disabilities. Walsh, a Dorchester native, organizes the donations and volunteers for The Friendship Social, which is sponsored by the Utility Workers’ Union of America, AFL-CIO Local 369 and its retirees group.

The Friendship Social is Sunday, June 12 from 4-8 p.m. at Florian Hall, Dorchester.

Established in June of 2010, the social event allows children, teens, and adults with disabilities to enjoy themselves and enjoy others in the community. It gives them a chance to socialize and make new friends with local neighbors providing an overall inclusivity with both others attending and volunteering for the social.

Children and teens of all disabilities are welcome as well as anyone who just wants to make some new friends and have some fun. There will be plenty of dancing with music provided by “Gifted Fingers” Joe Peters and Tony Funches of “The Platters” and plenty of food to make a fun night for all.

Donations can be made to: Friendship Social c/o Local 369 UWUA at 120 Bay State Drive, Braintree, MA 02184. For further information or to volunteer, please contact Dennis Walsh at 617-483-5235 or Maggie Desdunes at 617-285-4699.
