Sunday motorcycle ride raises awareness about Diabetes

Hundreds of motorcyclists, family and friends are expected to gather at Dorchester’s Florian Hall on Sunday morning to set off on the 14th Annual Rick Graham Diabetes Awareness Memorial Ride held in memory of a father and son, both avid motorcyclists. Former Boston Firefighter Rick Graham fatally suffered a diabetic-related heart attack while riding his motorcycle in 2001. His son, Richard Graham, passed away earlier this year due to complications from a bone marrow disease.

Starting at 11 a.m., bikers will ride 50 miles on back roads from Dorchester finishing up at the Dudley L. Brown VFW in Onset, where there will be music, food and raffles for all in attendance. Proceeds will benefit the American Diabetes Association, as well as families of bikers who have passed away.

Tickets are on sale now. The rider/passenger donation is $20 in advance and $25 at the door.
For children ages 10 and under, the ticket price will be $10.
