Tech Boston teacher, student hailed for excellence

A teacher and a student from Tech Boston Academy were recognized for their achievements during a ceremony at the Google offices in Cambridge last week. Christian Miranda, a teaching fellow at the school, was presented with an award for excellence by Breakthrough Greater Boston (BTGB), an organization that focuses on bridging the academic achievement gap with summer instruction. Tech Boston student Angelique Joseph was also recognized at the fifth annual event. BTGB also presented the an award to Anthony Consigli, CEO Consigli Construction. Guests also heard from keynote speaker Paul Reville, founding Director of Education Redesign Lab at the Harvard Graduate School of Education & Former Secretary of Education for the Commonwealth.

The organization released results of their annual summer learning report during their the event. The report is based on their six-week Summer Program and details the progress of 200 students across the two Breakthrough campuses in Boston and Cambridge.

According to the report, nearly all of the participants made “significant academic gains.”
