More Red Line ‘slow zones’ fixed; Dot Ave bridge bring-down begins

The MBTA says that four speed restriction zones were lifted on the Red Line last week, including two that have been in place between JFK-UMass and Andrew and North Quincy stations. A 16-day closing last October resulted in track work that eliminated dozens of slow zones along the Red Line and the Mattapan extension.

The latest work coincided with an interruption to train service last weekend as work began to demolish a bridge that carries Dorchester Avenue over MBTA tracks and the Southeast Expressway into South Boston.

There are two additional diversions planned for this coming weekend (March 30-21) and next weekend, April 6-7. For more information, see MBTA.com/DotAveBridge.
