The 4th annual Night Market/Cho Dem will take place this Saturday (July 12) from 4 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in Fields Corner as food treats, music, and socializing in traditional Vietnamese-style street market close down Dorchester Avenue between Adams and Gibson streets.
Organized by the Boston Little Saigon Cultural District, the market started as a way to help local businesses in Fields Corner following the pandemic. It has grown into a large street fair with entertainment on a main stage in Town Field and vendors selling a variety of foods.
“We definitely feel really happy that we are able to continue this established event every year,” said Tina Vo of Boston Little Saigon. “We look forward to it because it’s nice to see families and community come out and support us. That’s the biggest thing honestly. It’s a great event and everyone enjoys it.”
The format will remain the same with vendors, restaurants, and a midway on Dorchester Avenu and family areas, community organizations, and the entertainment stage at Town Field.
Emcees will be Laurie Thai and Jordan Huynh, and performers include Kate Nguyen, Ngọc Diễm, Lords at War, The Femmes, KND Lee, Hey Granny, Suzana Amatya, Olivia Huynh, Candance Persuasian, S.T.A.R and Little S.T.A.R, Ass6emble, Bulletproof, Eternals Lion Dance, Boston Latin School Southeast Asian Leaders, Murphy School Dancers, Traditional Dance & Singing, and DJ Muuno.
Some of the local food vendors include Bánh Mì Chi Tôi (My Sister’s Sandwich Shop), Pho Bar, Rensauce BBQ, Huong Quê Vietnamese Restaurant, Le Madeline, Thai Oishi, Coco Leaf, Bait to Plate, and Yeanie’s Burger & Social.
A new VIP Lounge and experience will be available this year by purchasing $65 VIP tickets, Vo said, with an express line for vendors. A separate beer garden is also planned.
The annual scavenger hunt will take place from 6 to 8 p.m., with the top four teams advancing to an eating contest on Town Field afterward sponsored by Pho Hoa.
Parking restrictions for the event on July 12 will start at 11 a.m. and the roads will be closed at noon.
