State Rep. Brandy Fluker-Reid joined the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women (MCSW) in hailing Edna Hall’s nomination for a 2026 Commonwealth Heroine award.
Each year, MCSW partners with state legislators to identify women who make outstanding contributions to their organizations and in their communities.
Hall, of Mattapan, was nominated for her dedication as a neighborhood advocate and active member of the Colorado Street Neighborhood Association. Through volunteerism, park caretaking, and engagement with residents, she plays a significant role in strengthening and maintaining community spaces such as the Mattahunt Community Center, Hunt-Almont Park, and Mattahunt Woods.
Hall helps ensure these public spaces remain accessible, welcoming, and safe for all those who access them, Fluker-Reid said, noting that “her hands-on involvement reflects a deep sense of civic pride and demonstrates the power of community-driven care in sustaining and uplifting the neighborhood’s shared spaces.”
